Opomba:
1. Trdota po Brinellu: Uporablja se predvsem za merjenje trdote ulitkov, odkovkov, delov iz neželeznih kovin, vroče valjanih gredic in žarjenih delov. Merilno območje je ≥HB450.
2. Trdota po Rockwellu: HRA se uporablja predvsem za vzorce z visoko trdoto za merjenje površinske trdote materialov in površin s trdoto, višjo od HRC67, kot so cementni karbid, nitrirano jeklo itd. Merilno območje je HRA>70. HRC se uporablja predvsem za merjenje trdote jeklenih delov (kot so ogljikovo jeklo, orodno jeklo, legirano jeklo itd.) po kaljenju ali popuščanju. Merilno območje je HRC20~67.
3. Vickersova trdota: uporablja se za merjenje trdote tankih delov in delov iz jeklene plošče, uporablja pa se lahko tudi za merjenje trdote površinsko utrjenih delov, kot so naogljičenje, cianiranje in nitriranje.
